New Version of e-Dirham to make VAT payment

Starting from November 1st, the old eDirham cards will be suspended. The FTA has announced the Third Generation of the UAE’s eDirham system for payment of VAT and other government fees and revenues. The new cards will replace the old version of the eDirham, which will be suspended and will not be available to use for the Authorities’ transactions.

Apply for the new eDirham card and enjoy a hassle-free payment experience across participating UAE government entities.
For more information, visit the website www.edirham.ae
You may still use your eDirham card at selected government entities that have not participated in the new eDirham generation.
If you need to get a G2 card to pay for the Governmental Entities still accepting G2 cards, please call 800 663  for the updated list of distribution channels or visit your nearest FAB branch.
You may redeem the available balance on your current Al Haslah card:
  • Transfer your Al Haslah card balance to your FAB account or new eDirham card issued by FAB.
  • Withdraw your Al Haslah card balance using any FAB ATM.
  • Redeem your Al Haslah card balance at any FAB branch.

“This step is in line with the UAE’s general strategy to promote cashless transactions and benefit from the state’s digital and technological infrastructures, as they are the foundations for the continuous development of the national financial and economic sectors,” FTA director-general Khalid Ali Al Bustani said.

The new version claims to feature the highest safety standards and lower charges. The authority has called for the existing users to ensure that any outstanding balance from the old versions are consumed and settled before the cards come to a complete stop on October 31st, 2020.
The new generation of eDirham includes three cards with different benefits.
  • The ‘Hala’ card is suitable for new customers who want to make one-time payments. This card does not require registration or documents and can be topped-up with a balance of up to AED 3,500.
  • The ‘Gold’ card is suitable for regular customers who make multiple transactions. It is pre-paid, with an option to top it numerous times. This card requires registration to provide an additional level of security.
  • The ‘Premium’ card is suitable for individuals and corporates with high balances without a maximum recharge limit. It is a customizable, pre-paid card that requires registration.
